Do You Need Wedding Insurance

Defined Tag: Wedding Insurance.
Wedding insurance is often referred to as 'special event' insurance. It would be a good idea when comparing rates and coverage to search under both terms.
Weddings can be so obscenely expensive and so many things could go wrong that wedding insurance is a very good idea, not something that should be overlooked by any wedding planner.
Anything could happen, ranging from hurricanes and sudden blizzards, to earthquakes, fires, or other natural disasters that might prevent anyone from attending a wedding, or may destroy the place where the event is scheduled to take place. With wedding insurance, there are some alternatives as to how the impending wedding may still take place at a later time, without increasing the expense.
One of the engaged people could become seriously ill or even be in an accident and may be quite suddenly, at the last minute, unable to attend their own wedding. Wedding insurance would help mitigate the disappointment.
Another possible catastrophe one would think would be readily eligible for wedding insurance is 'change of heart'. However, not all policies cover this possibility, so do clarify this with your insurance agent. This situation could leave the wedding host stuck for bakery, dress, floral, or band deposits, hall rental reservation, caterer's cancellation fees and more.
The groom-to-be or even the bride-to-be, if in the military or even in a military reserve unit, could be unexpectedly and suddenly deployed. Military couples should definitely have wedding insurance, as they won't have the option to be excused from duty due to their impending marriage.
The wedding gown and rings, alone, can cost thousands and thousands of dollars. The rings could be lost or stolen; and any number of problems could arise with the dress, ranging from the horrific disappearing bridal gown shop owner, to the alterations that are done incorrectly or not at all. A fire or flood could completely destroy the gown. This would be heart breaking in any case, but without wedding insurance, the tragedy would be ten-fold.
One must also consider liability for one's guests when considering a wedding insurance policy. This would include damage done by rowdy guests at the reception, as well as any injuries to guests while attending the event. Some policies even cover damage to the wedding gifts. Most reception halls require proof of quite a lot of insurance before they will even make the reservation.
The average wedding costs $22,000, but can cost far more, depending on how lavish an affair is planned. Without wedding insurance, this could double for any of the above reasons. No reason to have the happiest day of your life turn into a nightmare that recovering may take years to recover from financially.
